It is up to you which type of wax you choose to use. If you have a craft shop in your locality you can buy the raw material from there, otherwise you will have to purchase it through the internet.

Of course a candle cannot burn without a wick. Most are made from braided cotton.

If you are going to add any colors or fragrances to your candles then you need to make sure that they are safe for this purpose. Other types may be combustible and therefore highly dangerous.
