When two people decide to get married, there are many decisions to make. Choosing a design for the wedding centerpieces is just the beginning. A good place to start is to consider how elegant or informal and how bold or simple you want your reception. The centerpieces will set the stage for the rest of the dcor, so think of it as the focal point of the room. You can hire professionals for this if you have the money, or you can do the job yourself.

Picasso spent the years of 1900 to 1906 in what is referred to as the Blue and Rose Period. The Blue period involved the use of blue in most of Picasso’s works to represent a negativity and bleakness of Pablo Picasso paintings and those within them. Art experts, even those who disbelieve his later innovative style, respected his blue period. The rose period signaled a choice of brighter pink tones over the previous blues.

To layer drum samples effectively, one should be aware of the technical techniques and methods to utilize. You can only go so far with creativity when it comes to something so technical and focus-driven. If you can read on the history and major changes in the way we have made and perceived drum samples, you’ll be many steps ahead of your competition. From the sampled drums of the 70s and onwards (even on this day there are people sampling!) to the synthesized sounds coming out of TR-808s, there is a lot of knowledge to be absorbed!

In this modern day and age, we’ve got so many distractions when it comes to making music, it can be so hard to actually just sit down and start making some beats or work on a mixing project. When it comes to drum samples, we’ve all got thousands sitting on our hard drive, but how many can we use right now? We have a project open and are looking for a nice clap sound that is not over the top and not synthetic. How hard is it? What can we do?

To most music producers and beat makers, one of the highest-value collections of sounds on our computers is the drum samples we adore. Having built hundreds and maybe thousands of drum samples – and storing many more – it is no wonder that many would simply not know what to do if the hard drive that stores these samples crashed. A lot of the songs we make often do not save drum samples and other external sounds along with the project, so it can be hard, if not impossible, to ever recover such sounds from the jaws of a crashed hard drive.

Using uncompressed drum samples can be very unappealing to new music producers and beat makers, but anybody who has a real love for audio and an unbridled admiration of music and sounds that are true to their source will venture into the compression-less world sooner or later. Compression is basically the process of increasing the volume of the quiet parts of a song, piece of music or drum sound. It has been around since at least the 60s, possibly earlier.

Why would you want to generate snappy kick and snare drum samples? Well, as we all know, there’s a serious loudness war going on, and what better way to drown out the competition that have the rhythm track in your songs simply cut through any speaker set or car radio and be instantly recognizable and catchy? With the importance placed upon drum samples and their arrangement and sound, budding music producers pay no attention to this topic at their peril!

Right now, we’re going to be addressing a few of the questions regarding drum samples that are often posted in forums and other places online. Even blogs (semi professional and amateur) often see contributors discuss these topics a lot. The reason we are revisiting some of these concerns the online reputation of some prevalent forum members and blog owners. Their position and vested interests can skew the musical value of their answers. This is why it’s important to check on the topics again and maybe shed some new light on old land, so to speak!

Using drum samples with reverb is grossly under-utilized in today’s music production. For those who do use it, a lot of it is to take the sample beyond recognition and this is incorrect usage as far best practices are concerned. Using it correctly is an art form!
